MINERAL PROCESSING DISCIPLINE:
DIRECTOR ( MINERAL PROCESSING)
The Director(Ore Dressing) is the Head of the Ore Dressing Division in the IBM which has three Ore Dressing Laboratories and Pilot Plants at Nagpur , Ajmer and Bangalore respectively. He is responsible to hold charge of the Ore Dressing Division as a whole and for the Planning, direction and management of the research work of all the three establishments. The work includes investigations on bench and pilot plant scales on mineral beneficiation, mineral agglomeration, hydrometallurgy, chemical and instrumental analysis and mineralogical examination of minerals, ores and ore dressing products. The division also undertakes Technical Consultancy assignment for the preparation of detailed feasibility reports of ore dressing projects, investigation of difficulties experienced in commercial ore dressing plants and suggesting remedial measures etc.
CHIEF ORE DRESSING OFFICER
Supervising and co-ordinating the ore dressing investigation in laboratory and pilot plant, mineral agglomeration metallurgy, chemical analysis and mineralogy at headquarters and regional laboratories and pilot plants, preparation of techno-economic feasibility reports on mineral dressing and agglomeration.
SUPERINTENDING OFFICER ( ORE DRESSING)
Supervising and coordinating and conducting experiment on mineral beneficiation. Experimentation on pilot plant scale raising the grade of ores and minerals. Preparation of project reports on milling and recovery of ores, minerals and production of concentrate.
ORE DRESSING OFFICER
Conducting experiment connected with mineral beneficiation in laboratory and pilot plant. Conducting and coordinating the work of the junior officers of the group.
DEPUTY ORE DRESSING OFFICER
Experiments on pilot plant scale in raising the grade of ores and minerals, preparation of project reports on milling and recovery of ores, minerals and production of concentrate.
ASSISTANT ORE DRESSING OFFICER
Carry out various experiments on beneficiation of low grade ores and minerals both on laboratory and pilot plant scale also chemical and physical operations in connection with the development of suitable processes involving the usage of mineral raw materials required in various industries devising techniques for various mineral productions.
ASSISTANT RESEARCH OFFICER
Carrying out such beneficiation operations in the laboratory of the divisions are required for the formulation of different flow sheets for the upgrading of various low grade ores and minerals.
To work as an In-charge of Chemical Analysis Section of Nagpur Laboratory and planning, supervision, co-ordination and monitoring the work of Chemical Laboratory of Regional Ore Dressing Laboratory, Bangalore & Ajmer involving Classical wet methods of analysis or ores, minerals & ore dressing products generated during the test work. Various instrumental methods of analysis of ores and mineral samples and Environmental analysis of soil mine's effluents and ambient air samples, as per the guideline of Central Pollution Control Board, Ministry of Environment and Forest . Stores requirement, maintenance of equipment, instrument and other related jobs pertaining to chemical and environmental laboratory.
To work as Head of Chemical, Instrumental and Environmental Analysis Section of Chemical Laboratory of Modern Mineral Processing Laboratory & Pilot Plant. Planning, Supervision, Co-ordination and monitoring the work of chemical, instrumental and environmental analysis involved in Modern Mineral Processing Laboratory and Pilot Plant. Undertake the maintenance and repairing work of the instruments in the Chemical Laboratory.
To conduct, guide and supervise the analysis of ores and minerals, mineral dressing products and samples by wet methods and instrumental techniques. To evolve and standardize analytical methods for rapid and accurate determination of major, minor and trace elements in the samples, using wet classical methods and instrumental methods of analysis. Undertake the maintenance and repairing work of the instruments in the Chemical Laboratory.
To carry out chemical analysis of ores and minerals by conventional as well as by instrumental technique. Supervise the work of analysis of ores, minerals, ore dressing products and environmental samples carried out by the Assistant Chemist and other junior staff. Undertake the maintenance and repairing work of the instruments in the Chemical Laboratory. Coordination and standardization of instruments/equipment using suitable methods.
To conduct chemical analysis of ores, minerals and ore dressing products using classical method and instrumental methods of analysis. Supervising & guiding the technical assistants in chemical analysis.
JUNIOR MECHANCIAL ENGINEER
He is responsible for scrutiny and finalisation of Engineering Drawings pertaining to Mineral processing equipment’s, layout design drawings and foundation drawings, dismantling of existing Pilot Plant equipment’s, reassemble, installations and commissioning of various equipment’s including those of air-conditioning, ventilation, dust and fume exhaust/control system.
MINING & MINERALS STATISTICS DISCIPLINE:
Deputy Director General(S)
The Deputy Director General is the head of the Mining and Mineral Statistics Division and Controlling officer in respect of all officers and staff of Mining & Mineral Statistics Division, IBM. To Supervise and co-ordinate the statistical work pertaining to the mining and quarrying sector. To finalise the targets for the division and monitorits achievements. To guide the officers of the division in technical and administrative aspects of their work and issuing directives for maintaining uniformity of approach, adoption of clear cut objectives. To co-ordinate with other divisions of IBM and assist the Controller General, IBM in the matters relating to Mining and Mineral Statistics.
Directorsact as the technical & administrative supervisors of officers and staff working under them and render guidance.To act as in-charge of the units (MCDR Unit and Co-ordination & Publication Unit).To finalise of data related to various publications, namely, Monthly Statistics of Mineral Production, Statistical Profiles of Minerals, Indian Mineral Industry at a Glance and Indian Minerals Year Bookand other information disseminated by the Division.To finalise, in consultation with Divisional Head, Index of Mineral Production data, GVA for GDP/SDP, WPI data, the replies related to RTI matters and court cases, ministry references, parliament questions and various other references received in the Division. To assist Deputy Director General in meeting the targets set for the Division.
Deputy Mineral Economist(S)
DMEs act as the technical & administrative supervisors of officers and staff working under them and render guidance. To monitor the progress of respective sections of the Mining and Mineral Statistics Division like Metallic, Non-metallic, AncillaryStatistics, Foreign Trade Statistics, Co-ordination, Publication and General Administration. To carry out sample scrutiny of Statutory Returns and non-statutory data received in the division. To scrutinise the compiled data sheets related to various publications and other data disseminated by the Division and draft replies related to RTI matters and court cases, ministry references, parliament questions and various other references received in the Division.
Assistant Mineral Economist (S)
Responsible for administrative and technical supervision of the work of SSOs/JSOs and Ministerial Staff working under them and providing technical guidance to them.To carry out sample scrutiny of Statutory Returns and data received from non-statutorysources. Responsible for scrutinising the data sheets for Monthly Statistics of Mineral Production, Statistical Profiles of Minerals, Indian Minerals Industry at a Glance, Indian Mineral Year Book, Cabinet Summary, Index of Mineral Production, Wholesale Price Index, answering to Parliament Questions, preparation of GDP/SDP for mining and quarrying sector, Foreign Trade data for mineral sector, data on minor minerals,preparation of State-wise Average Sale Price of Minerals by grades for which royalty chargeable at ad valorem basis not linked to any international bench mark and other prices data, etc. Responsible for providing assistance to CPIO for providing information under RTI Act.Responsible for preparing draft replies related to court cases and various other references received in the Division.
Junior/Senior Statistical Officer
Responsible for getting the primary and secondary data related to Mining and Mineral Statistics in the form of Statutory Returns and other non-statutory sources. In order to ensure coverage and data quality scrutinise the Returns and other data and correspond/communicate with the concerned wherever required in consultation with their supervisory officers. Responsible for maintenance of related records and updation of mine directory. Responsible for compilation of data for various publications of the division which includes Monthly Statistics of Mineral Production data, Statistical Profiles of Minerals, Indian Minerals Industry at a Glance and Indian Mineral Year Book.Responsible for compilation data for Cabinet Summary, Index of Mineral Production, Wholesale Price Index, answering to Parliament Questions, preparing GDP/SDP for mining and quarrying sector, Foreign Trade Statistics for mineral sector, minor minerals statistics ,Preparation of State-wise Average Sale Price of Minerals by grades for which royalty chargeable at ad valorem basis not linked to any international bench mark and other prices data , providing inputs related to court cases/RTI queries and various other references received in the Division, etc.
CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER
He will supervise and monitor the work relating to administration and establishment including budget, accounts matter, stores and legal cell of the Department. He will assist the Controller General and other senior officers on administrative and establishment matters as and when required.
SENIOR ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER
The post of Senior Administrative Officer is the next higher post in Administrative discipline. He will be incharge of Administration and Accounts Section of Indian Bureau of Mines. He will also assist and advise the Controller General and the Head of Office on administrative and accounts matters from time to time.
To assist the Controller General, Indian Bureau of Mines, in Administrative matters relating to establishment and accounts and all other administrative work relating to the conduct of technical department. To carry out the administrative, accounts budget and financial work of the department.
ASSISTANT ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER
To carry out such administrative accounts, budget and financial work of the Bureau as are placed under his charge, to work as Drawing and Disbursing Officer and assist the Controller General, Administrative Officer, Indian Bureau of Mines in matters of Administration, Accounts and Budget.
SENIOR PRIVATE SECRETARY
To take dictation and transcription of the scripts of Head of Department. Deal with Confidential matter and maintenance of C.R. Dossiers of the Group ‘A’ & ‘B’ officers. Arranging D.P.C. meeting for assessment/probation review reports. Arranging conferences/Delegations and meeting. Keep liaison with heads of Divisions.

He is responsible for handling all correspondences relating to purchase of equipment and instruments listed in the Govt. input/UNDP Input in the project document for establishment of Mineral Processing Laboratory in India.He has to assist in inviting tenders/quotations for purchase of all equipment’s instruments, Preparation of comparative Statement, placing of supply orders and making arrangements for coordinating with other agencies involved in inspection of these items. He has to make all necessary arrangements for receipt of these mercenaries/instruments, stock-taking, procurement of spares and accessories and day to day supplies.
ASSISTANT STORES OFFICER
He is overall responsible for proper receipts, issue storage, maintenance and accounting of Stores. He will also be responsible for security of store. He will be responsible for provision to meet day-by-day requirement of all divisions by placing orders against Rate Contract or by local purchase. He will arrange disposal of unserviceable stores after observing the procedural formalities, such as survey reports and write off sanction of the competent authority.
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR (RAJBHASHA)
He is responsible for vetting the translation work and supervising the translation arrangements, ensuring the use of Hindi for obligatory purposes as required by the official languages act as amended, implementation of the instructions issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the progressive use of Hindi for various official purposes, effective working of the departmental official languages implementation committees, looking after the research, reference and coordination work for the increasing use of Hindi in the official work by preparing help and reference literature, arranging workshop training and giving necessary help and guidance to the officers/staff for learning Hindi and using it in official work.
NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABOVE, ALL THE ABOVE OFFICERS WILL DISCHARGE DUTIES WHICH MAY BE ASSIGNED BY THE CONTROLLER GENERAL, INDIAN BUREAU OF MINES OR BY ANY OTHER OFFICER DULY AUTHORISED BY HIM.
